Karetu Cottage
Karetu Cottage is a 4 bedroom house which sleeps 8 and has its own private garden and hill country views. 2 Queen bedrooms, 1 twin room and one bunk room. Well heated with log burner in lounge and night store heating in hallway.
The house faces the northwest and is positioned well for full sun and looks out into the front garden. It has a spacious dining room and kitchen with the table comfortably seating 8 adults. There is an attached garage which may also be used as a tack shed during your stay or storage for bikes. It is well set up for horses with 2-3 paddocks available and a nearby stable. There is ample parking and turning space for a number of floats.
Tranquil setting with north facing patio and BBQ area enjoys wonderful views of Canterbury foot hills. Use the tranquillity of the hills as a backdrop to relax under the stars.
Karetu Downs Farm Stay is a kiwi farm stay with an added difference. We offer (Bring your own) independent horse trekking and BYO mountain bikes or trail bikes. The farm is well tracked & is suited to all levels of horse riding with great back country tracks for trail bike riders and mountain bike enthusiasts. Clear safety instructions along with farm maps enable you to self guide around the farm.
Please note there is no mobile phone coverage but telephone is available at the homestead by request.
What To Bring
All you need to bring is your food as the cottage is self- service. Make sure you stop at a grocery store prior to arriving at the farm. We are 25 minutes drive by car to local shops.
Duvets, pillows & tea towels are provided. You can bring you own linen & towels if preferred.
We offer a tidy fully self-contained cottage which sleeps 8 (2 queen, 2 singles and 1 bunk bed). It has a fully equipped kitchen with oven, fridge freezer & microwave and dishwasher. It also has a CD player, DVD, TV and BBQ.).
Tariff Includes GST
NZ$190 per night (2 people).
Prices include supply of linen and towels
Accommodation & BYO Horse $70 per night per person.
NZ$210 per family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children under 6 years) extra $25 per additional adult per night, $15 per additional child up to 16 years. Cleaning of the house included in price.
Guests bringing their own linen and towels. NZ$170 per couple or NZ$180 for Family 2 adults 2 children. Extra $25 per additional adult per night, $15 per additional child up to 16 years. Under 5 years free. Cleaning of the house incurs an additional charge of $50. Please inquire when making the reservation.
Deposits and cancellations
Cancellation up to one month prior to your booking, your deposit will be refunded in full.
Cancellation up to 3 days prior to your booking – 50% deposit will be retained as a cancellation fee.
Cancellation within 24 hours of your booking incurs a 100% forfeit of the total amount unless we can fill your booking.
